"The best summer job for students!"
by

Hospitality,
Student jobs,
Summer money
Why did you join Off to Work?
I joined the June before I was heading to university, I need work the summer before I went to uni and then every so often I would visit home. I rejoined because I had left my full-time post grad job but it wasn’t making me happy, I remembered Off to Work and the fun times I had and thought ‘why not?’
What is the most you’ve made in a single week?
In a busy week I worked just under 60 hours (whilst attempting a social life) and still managed to make £709.20 before deductions.
What is the most you have made from a single shift (this may include a tip!)
£101.20 but then got a £200 tip at the end. Ascot is a dream.
Have you had a goal in mind in the past where you wanted to save up for something? If so what was it?
This summer my goal was to have the best summer I could have before I ‘grew up’. So I decided to go to seven festivals (Junction2, Field Day, elrow, Lovebox, Arts House, Lost Village, El Dorado) and then a holiday to Vienna to visit a friend, never mind Brighton Pride on top.
How did it make you feel when you achieved your goal?
I was tired but it showed me how far I can push myself to get what I want, and when I ended starting my ‘adult’ job I knew I was ready.
How did you achieve your goal?
Worked almost too much, when socialising outside of the main goals making sure I never missed out so I never felt the need to do more, was generally just making sure I was frugal. And just keep your end goal in sight its all worth it in the end.
What would you say to other people who are looking to use Off to Work to save money?
Don’t say no to opportunity, a 4 hour shift can turn into an on-going booking and end up making you more money. Also upskill as much a possible to make your time more valuable
Would you recommend Off to Work to your friends?
Absolutely, I have a friend getting booked into the Brighton assessment already!
